Mission
Yasargil Microneurosurgery Academy established in 2023 to advance and educate microneurosurgery throughout the world with dedication to nurturing young neurosurgeons in the field of microneurosurgery.
Proposed Bylaws
Article I
Name of the Organization
The name of this organization, a non-profit unincorporated association, shall be the Yasargil Microneurosurgery Academy (YMA).
Article II
Membership
- Any applicant practicing or in training with focus and interest in microneurosurgery from around the world.
- Founding members can recognize and nominate suitable applicants.
- Active membership will require the application and nomination by a member and supported by an additional recommendation letter.
- In training member requires only support of their program director.
- Senior membership granted at the request of an active member as they reach 65 years of age.
- Honorary member is a distinguished contributor to neurosurgery or any other related branch of medicine.
Article III
Officers
- A President is elected for a term of 2 years by a majority vote on a private electronic vote tabulated at the annual Congress.
- A call for a President elect nomination is made six months in advance to all the active members and the top three nominations will be put up for voting at the Congress.
- Secretary/Treasurer is elected for a term of 4 years. Elected as per President.
- The Executive Committee consists of the President, Secretary/Treasurer, Last President and Presidents elect.
Article IV
Educational Activity
- Annual World Congress location and leadership is selected from competing proposals presented to the Executive Committee.
- The organization of the World Congress is the responsibility of the selected proposal of leadership.
- Cadaver courses are the best to train and educate microneurosurgery. The academy will support all such endeavors anywhere around the world.
- In the institution, where active and modern laboratory is already established and it meets established criteria of the academy, the Academy certified lab will be bestowed.
- The Academy will support many symposiums and conferences focusing on microneurosurgery locally and regionally in any country.
- A special emphasis on attracting and supporting residents in training around the world for experience and a career in microneurosurgery.
- Publication and communication of microneurosurgery are disseminated through a webpage.
- As the Academic contributions grow, a dedicated journal, digital or in-print, will be sought.
Article V
Dues
- Dues are kept to a minimum agreed on and prorated according to each country’s economic status. Countries will be grouped into 3 tier categories.
Article VI
These bylaws could be amended with two thirds of the membership body’s “Yes” vote to any motion presented by 5 members of the executive committee.
